A book is a universal object; its form evolved throughout the centuries to become what it is today. During the Middle Ages, it was mainly religious texts that were copied one by one by hand. The invention of the printer in the 15th century allowed the production of books to be widely done. It's especially the alphabetization of populations, and the globalization of resources, that allowed their generalization. With the appearance of pocket formats, we can bring our books everywhere! But, it's today that they travel the most, thanks to their dematerialization in e-books or audiobooks.
"Histoire d'object" is a series to (re)discover the world around us through a a familiar object.
