Un arbre dans le jardin de Caillou a été endommagé par une violente tempête et doit être abattu. Cela rend Caillou triste, mais papa l'emmène à la pépinière pour l'aider à choisir un nouvel arbre. En regardant autour de lui, Caillou apprend des choses sur les arbres et leur importance pour l'environnement, les animaux et les humains. Après avoir planté le nouvel arbre, les oiseaux et les écureuils sont d'accord avec Caillou : il a trouvé l'arbre parfait pour leur jardin.
