Every morning, Loujain remembers her dream of flying to the field where thousands of sunflowers grow. She has wings, but where she lives, girls are not allowed to fly. Thanks to her determination and complicity with her family, Loujain will make her dream come true, and also inspire young girls to do the same.
This moving and poetic book is inspired by the real life of Loujain Al Hathloul, selected to be the Peace Nobel Prize, who was a successful activist to change laws in Saudi Arabia that forbade women from driving cars. The original version Loujain dreams of sunflowers won the American prize Middle East Book Award 2022, awarded to children or YA books that contribute to an understanding of the Middle East.
