Caillou Asks Nicely By Danielle Patenaude and Pierre Brignaud From Chouette Publishing
It’s a sunny day. Caillou is outside with Mommy and Daddy. Daddy is working in the vegetable garden. Mommy is planting flowers. Caillou doesn’t know what to do. He’s bored.
Caillou runs to Daddy. “I want my ball!” “Not now, Caillou,” Daddy says. “I’m busy planting beans.” Caillou makes a face. He’s disappointed.
Daddy asks Caillou to help him. “Please pass me the little shovel.” Caillou quickly gets the shovel and gives it to Daddy. “Thanks, Caillou. It’s nice of you to help me.”
Caillou goes to see Mommy. “I’m thirsty. I want a drink of water.” “Wait a bit, Caillou. I’m planting flowers,” Mommy says. Caillou crosses his arms. He’s disappointed again.
Mommy asks Caillou to help her. “Please bring me the hose, Caillou.” He runs to get it. “Thank you, Caillou,” Mommy says, with a big smile.
Caillou loves to see Mommy smile. “I’m happy when you say please and thank you,” Mommy says. “Those words make me smile, just the way water makes the flowers grow.”
