The song of the mountains
The day was winding down little by little and the last rays of the sun were filtering in through the tree branches. Moko and Meï-Li were resting. Above the forest, they noticed the mountains.
Suddenly, an amazing sweet-sound, musical and plesant, filled the countryside. It sounds like the mountain is singing, said Meï-Li. Do you think it's calling out to us ? Come, said Moko. Let's go and find out… And so they started off towards it, following the strange and wondrous music.
Night settled in all around them. Soon, there was only the thin moon to light the road before them, and the song of the mountains seemed to fade in the distance. The mountains are quieting down ! Maybe we've made them angry, said Meï-Li. As they reached the rocky foothills, the distant song returned, now almost a deep echo. Meï-Li wanted to turn around and leave. They're the spirits of the mountains, and they don't want us to get any closer. Don't be scared, said Moko ! He helped Meï-Li further along the trail.
